Be With Me.
mood: sweet but filled with longing

i watched Be With Me. a movie directed by Eric Khoo, starring lots of unknowns, and 2 lovely lasses, Samantha Tan and Ezann Lee. its a beautiful show. truly. the 2 gorgeous girls made it all the more watchable. Ezann Lee is stunning.
i know some people just don't do silences. so they don't understand what all the hype is about this show. however, i beg to differ. the only words i can use to describe this movie is beautiful, lovely. how i feel upon watching this movie goes beyond words.
it captures your heart. it touches your soul. it goes right into what u've stored up inside, unwilling to release, and releases the emotions u've kept inside. it makes u cry. at least, it made me cry.
i thought they didn't make movies like this anymore. i thought there wouldn't be a show where it captures reality so vividly and brings it into the viewer's world. well, i was wrong. Be With Me does exactly that.
i'm not waxing lyrical about this show, it's just tt its really been a long time since i am so enraptured, captured by a movie. i've watched millions of movies so far, but the only thing they make me do is laugh. i think the only one that made me think, besides this, was the psychological thriller Identity.
The movie is in 3 parts, but in the later section of the show all 3 parts come together. its mainly centred around the life of Theresa Chan, a blind and deaf lady whom i've come to admire after the movie. imagine living in a world of darkness and silence. darkness and silence - the 2 things associated with everything sad, depressing, and bad. for her to live in this world for a few decades, its almost tortorous. yet she overcomes it, even looking on the bright side, which is that she can see nothing ugly or hear anything ugly because she can't see or hear. i guess in a way that's good. we see so many ugly things everyday; it would be lovely to escape from it once in a while.
the other part is that of a lowly security guard falling in love with a high flying career lady whom he knows he can never have. this was what caught my attention and made me think. more on that later.
the third part was that of 2 teenage girls meeting online and falling in love. i thought this part was sweet. excluding the fact that im not straight, i thought this part was so reminiscent of what i had when i was younger. carefree days where me and her would just wander around doing nothing, so in love. so i also sympathised greatly with jackie (Ezann Lee), when sam (Samantha Tan) left her for a guy, and without so much as a proper break up. maybe because i've been there, so i can feel for this part of the show.
From what i've heard, there're not many viewers who can empathise for this part of the show. but i do. taking everything else aside, not taking into account that im a lesbian, i still feel for them. being gay is bad enough, imagine having to go through so many obstacles, everyone's whispers and weird looks, only to have all these taken away from u. its not easy to find someone of the same sex who loves u the way u love her. so when jackie jumped, i could understand how she felt.maybe because i've been there, eh. its just one of those young, fantasy filled world where love means so much. although, coming to think of it, love does mean a lot, still.
Be With Me managed to bring reality to the viewers, and very harshly, too, at that. it's almost like a wake up call to us. in my opinion, at least. take for example the security guard. tt is so real. how many of us have been in his shoes? fallen in love with someone we know won't love us back, and when we finally summon up the courage to express our liking, things go astray. that's just what the real world is like.
and jackie committing suicide (but failing), after a failed romance. how many of us have felt this way before? im sure we all have. maybe we don't go to such drastic lengths, but we go through what Jackie goes through, we feel what she feels. landed on reality, again.
and the shopkeeper, losing the wife he loves, finding no meaning in his life, only to have someone who has gone through even more experiences than him symoathis with him and comfort him. for those who have lost someone, gone through the grieving process, they will feel what he has felt.
that's why i say Be With Me is, in all truthfulness, a truly good movie. we empathise, we feel for the characters n what they go through. and he does this without much dialogue, which is much harder. since im on this, i have to say, too, that everyone who starred in this movie acted really well. because of the lack of dialogue, their facial expressions, their body language would have to bring out what they felt, and they did, very well. i am impressed, especially, by Ezann Lee and the shopkeeper (I don't know his name). both managed to bring out how they felt and their helplessness, although neither had professional acting help. though Ezann has acted before, i still felt hers was an impressive performance. she's still a newbie, i guess, which was why i was impressed with her.
and the quotes in the movie, they were sparse, but very true. very real. stuff like 'true love doesn't mean the end of the world', 'Stay with me, my beloved/so my smile will never fade', and'love only disappears when you don't understand what it means', does more to bring out the magic of this movie.
its great movie to catch. watch it, before it ends!
thought of the day: "all i want is just to talk to you..i love you.." -- is it always necessary to put those last 3 words in order for one to talk to another?
